Categorization is a basic skill that spans all stages of development and is essential for learning and problem-solving. This handout focuses on categorization without the aid of visuals. It encourages students to focus on language: first, identifying a term that properly encompasses all the nouns, and then the added work of building upon that understanding by choosing another word that fits within the identified concept.
